Before the Revolution, many Vietnamese were very suspicious and believed in ghosts and. So when they were sick, they wouldn’t seek the advice of a physician or go to the hospital. Instead, they would look to psychics to heal them.

They spent too much money.

“If you are ill, you had better relied on medicine. Don’t believe the psychics and allow them to squander your money, your children and husband are dying from starvation.”
