The Crisis |
On 11 December 1941, following the devastation on Pearl Harbor, Japan attacked the British Colonies of Hong Kong, Malya, Borneo and Burma with the intention of seizing the oil fields of the Dutch East Indies. In a matter of months, all these territories and more felt to the Japanese.
On 7 March 1942, the British evacuated Rangoon. On 9 April 1942, Japan seized Central Burma and on 15 September 1942, British began offensive to retake Burma.
